The African American Holistic Wellness Program builds a stronger sense of community and decreases the impact of trauma among African Americans by promoting healthy lifestyles through fostering physical, mental, emotional and spiritual fitness; encouraging healthy social connections; and providing opportunities to make a meaningful contribution. Services include individual counseling, evidences based and peer-to-peer support groups, educational workshops, cultural events, and movement classes. All of our services reflect the following guided principles: trauma informed, holistic health approaches, cultural/racial humility, and outcome driven.

For the past nine years, the Bayview YMCA has provided services, staffing, and programming to the Martin Luther King school community. In 2018, MLK Beacon became an official Beacon Center as part of a citywide expansion of Beacon Centers at school sites across San Francisco.

Beacon Centers strengthen the connection between schools,students,and families while offering resources and programming to meet the needs of the larger surrounding community. MLK Beacon programs are focused on youth development,academic interventions to close the achievement gap, and family partnerships. We are proud to provide students with safe and supportive year-round out of school time opportunities.

The Social Entrepreneurship Guidance Program, TILL Tech & Design, and Primped and Prepped are a few of the Workforce Development Programs offered at the Bayview Hunters Point YMCA. From workshops in professional etiquette and communication and drop-in resume writing support to intensive vocational training, we help people searching for financial equity become self-sufficient, economically stable, and thrive. We incorporate wraparound services and case management to provide job seekers with the skills and resiliency they need to succeed.

A variety of youth and teen school-based before, during, and after school programs focused on academic support, social-emotional learning, and enrichment activities at the Bayview Hunters Point YMCA, KIPP Bayview Elementary School, Phillip & Sala Burton High School, and Dr. MLK Jr. Academic Middle School. We also offer competitive youth sports programming for elementary, middle, and high school-aged youth at the Bayview YMCA.
