  • 2nd Annual Bayview Youth Summit [April13, 2013]: “We Overcome Our Struggles Around Here” (WOOSAH!).  BMAGIC in partnership with 3rd Street Youth Center and Clinic, CYC Bayview Youth Advocates, and College Track will be hosting a youth-led Summit focusing on trauma and stress.  This Summit is designed to help young people ages 13-18 feel empowered to address the pressures stemming from peers, family, school, and other outside influences.  Young people will be given the opportunity to learn from one another; how to best combat these pressures and trauma which occur over the course of living in a distressed community.  Workshops will touch upon the following areas: coping with losing a love one, healthy relationships, self esteem and body image, adverse childhood experiences, and self-managing stress levels. This year’s Summit is scheduled for Saturday, April 13th from 10am-3pm at College Track, 4301 Third Street.

  • 10th Annual BVHP Back-to-School Celebration [August 17th, 2013]: BMAGIC offers children and youth, ages 5-18, new backpacks filled with essential school supplies to celebrate the beginning of the new school year. The event also serves as a community building activity where children, youth and families come together and learn about the various services CBOs in BVHP provide as well as other city agencies and service providers. We distributed 2,500 backpacks to BVHP children and youth and 700 back packs to our deserving neighbors in our surrounding communities who share a common goal in sustaining the health, vitality and safety of communities of color at our 2012 event. This year’s Back To School Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, August 17th from 11am-3pm at Youngblood Coleman Park, 1400 Hudson Avenue.
