Annual Bayview Youth Summit
Since 2012, BMAGIC and our community partners have worked to support an annual youth driven and youth led Summit. Over the course of 14 week planning process from partnering organizations come together to plan a youth summit to address an identified trend or community issue. The Summit is designed to connect youth ages 13-18 representing the diverse backgrounds of BVHP to have open, honest and supported dialogue. They also feel empowered to respond the pressures stemming from peers, family, school and other outside influences. Past summit themes included trauma, violence prevention, sustainability and consist of workshops, lunch and entertainment. This year’s summit will be held on Saturday, April 29th, 2017 at College Track (4301 3rd Street).
Literacy Is Freedom Book Fair
Since 2005, BMAGIC’s fair is designed to expose children to the power of literacy. Children from Pre-K-1st grade will engage in theatrical storytelling and literacy activities. Each child will be provided with a brand new culturally relevant and competent book and healthy snacks. This year’s event will be held on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017 from 9am-12pm at Bayview Opera House Ruth Williams Memorial Theatre. This event is only open to schools, early education centers and homeschools in the Bayview serving PreK to 1st Grade. Register Now
BVHP Back-to-School Celebration, Backpack Giveaway
Since 2004, BMAGIC offers children and youth, ages 5-18, new backpacks filled with essential school supplies to celebrate the beginning of the new school year. The event also serves as a community building activity where children, youth and families come together and learn about the various services CBOs in BVHP provide as well as other city agencies and service providers. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, August 12th, 2017 from 11am-3pm at the NOW Hunters Point site at 155 Jennings Street, San Francisco, CA 94124.
